Our friends at Battery Park organized a Bon Voyage dock party in our honor on June 28. We were so honored! It started off with a regatta in the morning. Bill and Mike won the race, even though the others said they crossed the starting line early (oops). Eric, Christopher and Chip came in second, although they admitted they did not go past the final mark. And finally, John and Rick came in last but said they really won because they were the only ones to follow all the rules. However, after a beer or two John's conscience got to him and he admitted they did not circle the middle mark. (Rick said he's never gonna rob a bank with him.) So, the lesson here is that they are all sailors but not gentlemen! :)
The evening festivities included a wide array of hors d'oeuvres and fruity drinks with everyone dressed in island attire. We received wonderful gifts including a very generous gift certificate to the Charleston SC marina for a visit to our wedding site this fall. Connie made a special wash tub (I'm a bit obsessed with doing laundry) complete with a hand-held fan, in case I have to do laundry when it's hot; a flashlight, in case I have to do laundry in the dark; and a shot glass because, well, I have to do laundry! We also got books, rum and a St. Christopher's medal.
We are so blessed to be surrounded by so many great folks and will miss them madly in the coming year! Thanks to one and all!

The dock was full of well-wishers, great food and yummy drinks!
Connie, with the well-equipped wash tub.
Bill and I reading the beautifully written prose, wishing us a safe journey in the coming year. Yes, of course, I cried while reading it out loud.

Bill whooping it up! (Note the hula skirt on Rick and Tina's boat in the background.)
